WHY GO?
What better way to experience the Aurora Borealis aka Northern lights than in the city of northern lights, Alta. In Norwegian, Eventyr means both 'adventure' and 'fairy tale.' This is the perfect word to describe Alta, as it is a perfect place for active adventures in the mountains, forests and fjords that are reminiscent of fairy tale landscapes. The cold and long winters provide excellent conditions for dog sledding, skiing, snowmobiling, and other adventure activities. A modern city in Northern Norway surrounded by the arctic tundra and mountains, Alta is the ideal combination of natural and urban elements.
The celestial dance of lights, known as Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, is a phenomena as old as Earth’s atmosphere. The first record of Aurora Borealis is believed to be in a 30,000-year-old cave painting in France. Since then, cultures around the world have marveled at its magic, giving rise to many fascinating legends and folklore.
In Norway alone, symbols linked to the northern lights are found on the Sámi shamanistic drum. They call it “Guovssahas,” i.e. “the light that can be heard.” During the Viking Age, the northern lights were said to be the armor of the Valkyrie warrior virgins that shed a strange flickering light. Today, locals respectfully refer to the lights as “the green lady.”

WHY GO?
If you've already been to Rome, a weekend in Tuscia is like stepping into another world: slower, quieter, and deeply authentic. Just a couple of hours from the capital, this underrated region between Lazio and Tuscany offers the perfect antidote to crowds and chaos: natural hot springs, medieval charm, ancient Etruscan wonders, and incredibly genuine local culture.
Begin your journey in Tarquinia, where you can walk among UNESCO-listed Etruscan tombs, their vivid wall paintings offering a rare, intimate glimpse into a mysterious civilization that predates Rome itself. For anyone fascinated by ancient cultures and archaeology, this is a treasure trove.
Next we head to, Viterbo, one of Italy’s best-preserved medieval towns, where time seems to move differently. Wander the cobbled alleys of San Pellegrino, Europe’s largest intact medieval quarter, and explore the stunning Palazzo dei Papi, once home to 13th-century papal conclaves. The atmosphere is untouched, rich with stories, yet still under the radar of mass tourism.
We cap it off, by heading to Saturnia, where the Cascate del Mulino flows freely, day and night. These warm, turquoise waterfalls are not only completely free to enjoy, but also steeped in history — the same healing waters were used by the Etruscans and Romans thousands of years ago. If you're a lover of thermal baths, this alone is worth the trip.
Between these stops, indulge in seasonal local food, rustic wines, and the warmth of a region that still lives in rhythm with nature and tradition.
So if you're yearning for something authentic, peaceful, and soul-nourishing, this corner of Tuscia is your perfect weekend escape — especially if you’re in love with hot springs, history, and the beauty of places that haven't lost their roots.

WHY GO?
A stroll through Görlitz is like a journey through time through half a millennium of European architectural history: around 4,000 restored architectural monuments span the spectrum from the late Gothic to the Baroque to the Renaissance and into the Art Nouveau period.
It’s also the backdrop for many Hollywood films - come and see where Quentin Tarintino and Wes Anderson made their movies. The tour takes you over the border into Poland, back and round through the cobbled streets, and next to centuries old churches, where we will visit the famous Silesian Christmas Market.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS?
- St. Peter’s Church: The parish church, built in the 15th century, towers over the Neiße Valley and is hard to miss with its mighty pair of towers and its elaborately constructed copper roof. An architectural masterpiece.
- Old Town Bridge: The Görlitz Old Town Bridge has been around since 1298 connecting Germany with Poland.
- Astronomical Clock: The market square is adorned with a sundial clock, with a face whose eyes watch you as you move
- Görliwood: In recent years, the city has become a popular filming location for many film and television productions, such as Wes Anderson's “The Grand Budapest Hotel”, Quentin Tanrantino's “Inglourious Basterds”, and “Monuments Men”
- Schlesischer Christkindelmarkt Görlitz (Christmas Market): One of the best Christmas Markets in Saxony, the market has an ice skating rink, steam train, picture book cinema and puppet theatre on the stage
