Tucson Social Introverts & Nerds (20s, 30s, and 40s)

Many people (especially those who identify as neurodivergent) thrive on structure and deep focus on things they feel invested in, but can struggle with meditation cues like focusing on the breath for extended periods of time because these depend on willpower.

This week we'll go over strategies to work with your strengths, not against them, using a technique called dynamic concentration that alternates sharp focus and relaxed awareness to cut through brain fog and distraction to reveal clear, open awareness.

These hour and a half sessions are a place for imperfect people to have deep discussions and create meaningful change. Come wind down at the end of the week with conversation with like-minded people followed by a guided meditation, using Open Heart methods ranging from insight meditation to compassion practice.

Your instructor:

I'm Lindsay Kriebel, and instructor with Open Heart Sangha. I've practiced with Open Heart for five years, following ten years of throwing every self-help solution I could find at addiction, depression, and anxiety. But complex problems can't be solved by more overthinking. Simple solutions like developing compassion for myself and others work exactly because they are so basic. When I'm not seeking spiritual realization, I'm a librarian, seeking information for law students at the University of Arizona.

Pease join me and several others for a nice friendly game of kickball. Adults only (18 and up) and no pets.

FEE: $2 per person to help pay for the field and the lights.

Directions: We will play on the softball field number 4 which is between the swimming pool and the children's playground.

Come ground yourself with a sunset walking meditation on the Loop near Brandi Fenton Memorial Park.

This meetup will be a bit more relaxed than our Friday sessions, so if you’re looking for an easy introduction to meditation and mindfulness and exercise with friends, this would be a good opportunity.

We can meet in the parking lot off River rd and do a brief grounding meditation before heading off to walk on the loop. We can walk for about a mile, and we’ll be going at a relaxed pace, focusing on being physically present and soaking in all the sights and sounds.
