For our next Foodie Fellowship dinner, we’re heading to the Philippines, without leaving The Hague! 🇵🇭
Join us for an evening at Baryo Pilipinas, an authentic Filipino restaurant in the heart of Den Haag, where we’ll explore the wonderfully diverse flavours of Filipino cuisine.

🇵🇭 Discover Filipino cuisine
Filipino food brings together influences from Southeast Asia, Spain, China and the Pacific, resulting in a cuisine full of bold combinations: salty, sour, sweet, savoury and often all of them at once.
Baryo Pilipinas specialises in traditional Filipino dishes and describes itself as one of the relatively few Filipino restaurants in the Netherlands.
This is a great opportunity for anyone who has never explored Filipino food before, and equally good for those who already know that Filipino food deserves a lot more attention!

🍌 Shall we eat Kamayan-style?
One of the most interesting options at Baryo Pilipinas is their Boodle Fight / Kamayan experience.
Instead of individual plates, the table is covered with banana leaves, and a variety of Filipino dishes is spread across the table for everyone to share. Traditionally, Kamayan means eating with your hands rather than using cutlery. Baryo Pilipinas offers this experience for groups of four or more.

For smaller groups, the restaurant also offers Bilao: a traditional basket lined with banana leaves and filled with a selection of Filipino dishes to share.
Depending on the size of our group and what everyone is interested in, we can decide whether to go for one of these shared experiences or simply order dishes from the regular menu.

🍽️ Expect a proper Filipino feast
Filipino cuisine is particularly well suited to sharing, so this will be a great opportunity to order several different things and discover new flavours together.
And, of course, no Filipino meal would be complete without leaving some room for dessert. If halo-halo appears on the agenda, resistance may be futile. 😋

💰 Costs
Everyone pays for their own food and drinks.
If we decide to order a shared Bilao or Boodle Fight/Kamayan, we’ll divide the cost fairly among the people taking part.

👥 The plan
We’ll meet at the restaurant at 19:00 and enjoy dinner together.
As always, this meetup is about more than just having a meal. It’s an opportunity to discover a cuisine, try dishes you might not normally order, and meet other people who are just as enthusiastic about food.
Please RSVP only if you genuinely intend to attend. Restaurant reservations depend on our group size, so if your plans change, please update your RSVP as early as possible.
Come hungry, ideally hungry enough for an entire table covered in banana leaves. 🍌🍚🔥

You can always arrive a little early and grab a drink at their impressive bar — their cocktails look gorgeous! 🍸

Every Sunday, they offer:
🦪 Fresh oysters for just €1
🍹 Mimosas & Bloody Marys for €7.50
🎶 Good music
🌊 Beautiful views over Amsterdam

It’s the perfect Sunday to slow down, enjoy some oysters and drinks, and have a lovely time together.

There’s a limit of 3 oysters per person, per round, so everyone gets a chance to enjoy them.

Commitment & No-Shows: Please RSVP only if you are 100% committed to attending. Late cancellations and no-shows affect the experience for everyone and may result in being waitlisted for future events.

If your plans change, please update your RSVP at least 48 hours in advance so someone from the waitlist can take your place.

Payment: To keep things simple, we’ll settle the bill using Tikkie after lunc. Please come prepared to pay digitally, as cash payments won’t be possible. Can’t wait to see you there! 🦪🥂✨
