Join us on a beautiful hike along the Withlacoochee River!

Frolic among the water-marked cypress of Silver Lake and picture what this area looks like during the rainy season when the water jumps the banks and invades the quiet woods.

Also known as the Silver Lake loop, parts of this 6.67 mile hike are underwater for half of the year. Although almost all paths are dry, there are two very wet, unavoidable areas that may get your feet wet.

We will travel this loop counter-clockwise, hitting “Gopher Tortoise Alley” first, and will take a break at Cypress Glen Campground before embarking on the scenic portions of the hike.

All participants must be able and motivated to complete the entire hike. We cannot allow anyone to turn around and try to find their way back to their car. Adequate water is a must; sunscreen, hat and bug spray are recommended.

Let's hike 9.5 miles along the River Trail. Meet at the Crooked River campground trailhead near the camp host site. Follow signs to Crooked River Campground once in Silver Lake Rec Area.
Trailhead is on the right before entering campground. This will be n out and back. It will be mostly shaded with some sections of sugar sand

I'm going for an Early Morning RELAXED Paddle and Beach Day if anyone wants to join me. It's a play day.

We will meet at the kayak launch at 8:00am and launch soon after. Please be there early enough to unload. There are no kayak rentals at that time.

I will have a YELLOW HARD HAT on my car or kayak to find me.

From there we will be paddle to Midnight Pass which has now opened up to the Gulf. If weather permitting, we'll go for a swim and take a walk on the new beaches to look for the pretties' seashells before all the boaters and kayak rentals come along. Once we have had enough of the Beach time, we will head out for a paddle around the intercoastal.

If you decide to come, just go with the flow and stay together. If you are in a hurry to get this event over with or need to go someplace, this event is not for you.
If anybody wants to go eat something after the paddle, let me know. There is a great restaurant down the street.

This is for experience paddlers only.

What to bring: Lots of water, kayak wheels, lead line, snorkel gear, snack or lunch and everything else you should know what to bring as experienced paddlers.

No pet, kids, smoking, guest or plus one. Please refrain from talking about politics or religion on my events.
There is bathroom at the kayak launch.
