What is Spatial Computing, Anyway? (And Why Are We Talking About It Over Beer?)
Welcome to a laid-back, curious, and often geeky meetup where we explore the wild world of spatial computing, a catch-all term for the cool stuff that happens when computers understand space, place, and motion.
Think:

- Augmented Reality (AR)
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Internet of Things (IoT)
- GPS, GIS, 5G, and digital twins
- Oh, and yes, beer
Whether you’re a seasoned developer or someone who just heard the term “spatial computing” five minutes ago, you’re welcome here. This group isn’t about showing off who knows the most. It’s about having fun, asking good questions, learning a thing or two, and maybe stumbling into an idea that sparks something big.
Past conversations have touched on a wide range of topics, from whether AI will ultimately lead to humanity's demise to how we can make VR more successful. Upcoming ones? That’s up to you.
Meetings are informal (though may involve handouts!) and feature excellent local beer.
Even if no one else shows up… hey, you still get a great beer and a story to tell.

This is the tech-side breakout of a three-part meetup that begins with VR New Mexico’s all-are-welcome session, then splits at 3:00 PM into two groups: this one, and 3D Immersive Arts NM for the artists and actors.
We’ll swap ideas, tools, and maybe prototype a little magic, rigging avatars, designing worlds, or simulating fog machines.
About this 3-in-1 Event:
This special meetup starts with a shared session hosted by VR New Mexico at 2:00 PM, open to anyone curious about virtual reality. Then at 3:00 PM, we split into two themed breakout groups: 3D Immersive Arts NM explores theater and storytelling in VR, while Spatial Computing dives into the tech behind immersive experiences. Come for one, explore both, or just hang out and see what happens. All meetups are co-located at the same brewery near Santa Fe, so the vibe stays fun, creative, and full of serendipity. There will be no official presentation with slides, just conversation (and maybe handouts). After all, it's a brewery.
