Spotlighting New Bedford's Abolition Row
Location not specified yetThe walking book tour features Master Slave Husband Wife: An Epic Journey from Slavery to Freedom by Ilyon Woo. We'll use the Pulitzer prize winning book to explore New Bedford's Abolition Row. The gripping book tells the story of an enslaved couple who escape from Geogia, disguised as a disabled white gentleman and "his" manservant, to the North where they become famous abolitionists while evading bounty hunters. We'll visit the home where they stayed when they came to New Bedford, along with other sites connected to the Abolitionist movement. The event is free but please register here for meetup information.
