Sierra Club - West Virginia

4.5-mile, moderate hike, with 2-mile option. Please register and e-sign the required liability waiver form at www.sierraclub.org/west-virginia/events. Click the date on the calendar to be taken to the form.
We will meet at the park visitor center and hike to the lower town, visiting the Shenandoah Canal and the remains of the old water power industry on Virginius Island along the way. Once in lower town, we will gather at one of the town restaurants for some refreshment or a light lunch before returning on a more rigorous walk to Jefferson Rock and along the Appalachian Trail. Those wanting only the easy half of the hike can ride the park shuttle back. On both walks we’ll share a bit of history and get some nice winter views of the Shenandoah River and the area. Note that admission to Harpers Ferry NHP requires $20/car or park passes.
Bring some water, and dress appropriately for a winter walk on rugged terrain. We will cancel in moderate or heavy precipitation or in case of icy conditions.

This hike is open to all. It is an easy 2-mile hike on gently rolling hills. We will have some good views of the Potomac River. Please dress for a winter hike.
Bring: Water, snacks, and shoes appropriate for a woodland hike in winter weather.
Meet: Yankauer Preserve parking area, 438 Whitings Neck Road, Martinsburg, WV
Cancellation policy: We will cancel for heavy rain or winter weather.

This hike is open to all. This will be an easy hike on level ground. We will start at the Paw Paw Tunnel parking lot. We will walk the tow path through the Paw Paw Tunnel to Sorrel Ridge hiker/biker campsite. On our return we may go over the tunnel for some good view of the Potomac river.

Please bring appropriate foot ware and a flashlight or headlamp for our time in the tunnel. We will cancel in heavy rain or snow but will carry on in light rain.
