What weβre about
This is a book club for people who love reading fiction, with a slight lean towards Fantasy and Sci-fi. We'll meet in-person once a month and discuss a book we all read. The way we decide on books is whoever shows up to an event can offer up a book for us to read next and pitch it to the group. If you sell us on it, it will be the next month's read. While Fantasy and Sci-fi are the main genres, I'm down to read other fiction outside these genres as well, so feel free to suggest books outside those genres.
Our current homebase is Garrison City Beerworks in Dover, NH.
Friendly *FYl* Due to group size limitations for these in-person meetups and in the interest of fairness, I have had to make some rules. If you RSVP that you are going and the event happens and you were a no-show for two different meetups events, you will get the boot from the group. Second, if you RSVP and cancel the day of the Meetup event three different times, you will get the boot. Not updating your RSVP or canceling the day of the event prevents others on the waitlist from coming, and it messes up the reservations. I've seen how other Meetup groups handle this, and I asked some of you, and we agreed that this seems fair. Last minute stuff happens--we all get that, but this is to prevent chronic no-shows and chronic last-minute dropouts.
If you're looking to be more social and meet some new friends who are passionate about reading, join Seacoast Books and Brews!

See all- August Book Club "The Last Duel" by Eric JagerWallis Sands, Rye, NH
For August, we are going to read "The Last Duel" by Eric Jager. This is a Tsetsi pick.
Since July didn't work out weather wise, we have decided to try for another beach day.
Wallis Sands State Beach in Rye, NH, has a big parking lot, bathrooms, and a nice beach. Bring a beach chair, bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, food, water (no glass), and whatever makes you comfortable for a few hours at the beach.
You can buy a parking pass ($15 per car for the day). I know some people have state park plates, and others are getting parking passes through the library. You can buy parking at the gate, but in case it sells out, you might want to buy before you go. Their website is: Wallis Sands Reservations
Weather can be a challenge when we plan this far out, so I would wait to buy a pass until I confirm that the weather will be okay for us. Like last time, I will make the weather call 2 days before, and I will make it clear on this page if I change the venue to our usual spot at Garrison City Beerworks in Dover, NH. I do my best to make the right call with the information I have. I'm hoping it cooperates for us this time, but if it's raining or lightning, we will have Garrison City Beerworks as a backup, and that place works well for this group.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to message me.
Be sure to check the page to get updates.
Hoping to see you all at the beach. π
