What we’re about
Welcome to Adventure People! This group is for everyone who loves to hike, kayak, rock climb, and anything that gets us outdoors. We have a great team of organizers who schedule local outdoor activities, social events, and weekend camping trips. We also do small group trips to destinations around the world.
Some of the things we've done include watching the Northern Lights in Iceland, hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, rappelling down waterfalls in Costa Rica, trekking on a glacier in Argentina, hiking the W Trek in Chile, climbing a volcano in Hawaii, visiting the country's national parks, exploring the world's most spectacular caves in Vietnam, salsa dancing lessons in Cuba, and that's just a few.
Adventure People all have one thing in common, we want to travel the world and have fun doing it. We're explorers, not tourists. Regardless of where you go and what you do, it's the people you share the experience with that you'll remember the most. What you'll find in Adventure People is that we're a fun, active, adventurous, welcoming group of friends. By joining our community and participating in our local and international trips, you'll not only have a new group of friends but new travel companions with whom you'll want to share more experiences. That's why you'll always see repeat travelers on all of our trips!

Cerro San Luis Obispo, 8 Mile Intriguing Hike & Explore
Rock Garden Trailhead, 189 Serrano Heights Dr, San Luis Obispo, CA 93405, San Luis Obispo, CA, USI have hardly explored the beautiful forested area on the north side of Cerro San Luis Obispo, even though I have hiked quite a few times to the peak for sun setting.
With the recent heavy rains, I am curious to discover what species of the fungi kingdom emerge from the hidden and mysterious underground mycelia network. Many of these mycorrhizal fungi species, such as amanita ocreata, amanita smithiana, boletus barrowsii and cantharellus californicus, would form symbiotic partnerships with oak species in this area, such as coast live oak. I am combining mycology field discovery with a few hours of exploring and working out in beautiful nature. I expect this hike to be intriguing and exciting.

Bishop Peak+Felsman Loop: Boulder Climbing, Hiking, Exploring, Sunsetting
Bishop Peak & Felsman Loop Trailhead Patricia Street Entrance, 787 Patricia Dr, San Luis Obispo, CA, USThe rain season is here. Whatever Nature offers, I accept and adapt, shine or rain, being out exploring in beautiful nature would go on.
Bishop Peak is my favorite spot in San Luis Obispo for some exciting boulder climbing and consistent great panoramic views of SLO and the surrounding areas, especially at sunset. The hiking trail itself is relatively narrow and steep, rocky, making it less mundane and more exciting to hike. The forested area in the lower section with boulder outcrops is very scenic. Frequently there are other hikers along the trail going up and down, and quite often I had encountered other hikers and climbers that brought meaningful conversations on top of the boulders.
For this trip, I would also explore Felsman Loop for tree climbing and mycology field exploring. There will be some bushy traverse, including encountering toxicodendron species that are known by some as poison oaks.
The main focus of this trip is on the boulder climbing at the peak, and watching the sun setting on a prominent boulder with 360 panoramic views.

10 Mile Hike & Explore: Surf Beach, Sand Dune & Bluff, SpaceX Launch Complex
Surf Beach, Ocean Road (West end), Lompoc, CA, USI am fascinated and captivated by life within the context of the universe, and therefore also with our collective effort in space exploration - a beginning step of life going beyond the confines of Home Planet Earth and its atmosphere.
SpaceX Rocket Launch Complex is within Vandenberg Space Force Base, and roughly 3.5 miles south of the Surf Beach Train Station. I plan to hike & explore the beach at low tide, hike and explore the pristine and scenic sand dunes on the way to check out SpaceX, from a publicly accessible area.
Tentatively this hike is scheduled for Saturday Jan 17 and may be adjusted to fit the schedule of SpaceX Launch and low tide prediction when Surf Beach is more accessible.

Easy 10 Mile Hike & Explore: Strauss Wind Energy Project, Lompoc
Strauss Wind Energy Project, HFGM+29X Lompoc, California, LOMPOC, CA, USStrauss Wind Energy Project is located on almost 6000 acres of mostly cattle cohabitating pasture land, and consists of 27 wind turbines, up to 492 tall. The site is scenic, with cattle ranches, and vistas of structurally beautiful and towering wind turbines, near and far on rolling hills and pasture land.
I am fascinated by the structural design, construction, wind turbine and generator efficiency, manufacturing of various components, transportation logistics of super long 220’ blades, etc.
It would be great to do a strenuous hiking workout while checking out this marvelous wind energy project. The hike & explore would be done from publicly accessible roadways, mainly San Miguelito Rd.
