About us
The Great Raleigh Cleanup is a community of people working together to create a cleaner, more cared-for Raleigh.
We believe in Community, then Impact. That means we show up, get to know each other, pick up litter, and leave every space better than we found it.
We host cleanups regularly across Raleigh, often on weekends, but you’ll also see weekday and special event opportunities pop up throughout the year. Some cleanups are quick and easy. Some involve ditches, streams, hills, mud, and the occasional “how did that even get here?” moment. Either way, safety is always our top priority.
We also host Landfill Diversion events at concerts, festivals, and tailgates; collecting recyclable cans and materials before they hit the trash. Same mission, different setting (and usually some live music).
All cleanup supplies are provided unless otherwise noted. Just wear closed-toe shoes, dress for the weather, and bring water.
A few things to know:
-
Sign up even if there’s a waitlist. Plans change and spots often open up.
-
Kid-friendly cleanups will be clearly noted in the event title.
Can’t make a group cleanup? Ask us about Adopt-the-Block, our self-led cleanup program.
Want to bring your team or coworkers out for a cleanup? We can help with that too.
Please make sure you complete the event waiver before volunteering.
Happy picking, y’all!

We need volunteers to help pick up litter within an adopted Walnut Creek tributary in Biltmore Hills Park. Please help keep our waters clean!
Your involvement will positively impact the environment by reducing pollution in our waterways, protecting wildlife from ingesting harmful trash, and enhancing water quality for both humans and wildlife alike.
Participants will be divided into groups and assigned a section of the stream to work in to remove trash. Trash grabbers, collection supplies, and snacks will be provided.2 attendees
