Studio Photography Workshop #2 Lets make creative portraits
Alser Straße U, 1090 Vienna, Vienna, ATThis time I booked a studio for 5 hours so we have a lot of time to experiment. It's a great opportunity to train yourself with working with light and also get a couple of portraits for yourself.
We will start with simpler shots and then get to photograph more abstract and creative concepts.
Each of us will have about 15 minutes to photograph and try out different light setups and also can jump in for a quick picture in between.
I see it as us changing setup several times and taking a few shots in each colour/light variation.
Feel free to bring your snacks and drinks!
Optional If you are not a photographer but would like a portrait of you in a studio almost for free I will keep 3 places open specifically for this.

Photography Workshop for Beginners | Seeing the Subject & Controlling the Image
Location not specified yetSeeing the Subject & Controlling the Image
Extended Photography Workshop
Date: Saturday, 07 March (07.03.2026)
Start: 14:00
Duration: approx. 4 hours
Location**:** Vienna (exact meeting point shared after booking)
This workshop is created for early-stage photographers and people who are just starting out.
I have designed it as a kickstart to your photography journey, helping you build solid foundations early on so you don’t hit a creative plateau after learning only classic rules of photography.
The workshop is beginner-friendly and assumes no deep technical knowledge. At the same time starting with basics, we will be building foundation that will help you become even better than some of the professionals.
We’ll start with the fundamentals of exposure and camera control, then move into composition and subject-focused photography. The goal is not just to know how to set your camera, but to understand why you make certain choices and how they support the image.
Many beginners shoot from where they stand, reacting to scenes instead of observing them. This workshop helps you slow down, move with intention, and decide what the photograph is actually about before pressing the shutter.
***
##### What this workshop focuses on
- Camera basics & exposure
How your camera sensor works, what exposure really is, and how aperture, shutter speed, and ISO affect the image.
We’ll also talk about why underexposing slightly is often a deliberate choice.
- Composition fundamentals
Classic compositional rules, how to apply them simply, and how to avoid forcing them into every image.
- Finding the subject
Learning to recognise what the photo is about — even in complex or messy scenes.
- Subject-focused photography
How to move, change perspective, how to know what actually you photograph and how to do it.
- Subject separation
Using depth, light, contrast, and framing to make the subject stand out.
- Seeing before shooting
Developing the habit of observing becoming more aware and more deliberate with your photography choice.
***
### This workshop is for you if…
- you’re new to photography or still unsure about camera settings
- you want a strong foundation for visual arts.
- you feel your photos lack focus or intention
- you want to avoid common beginner mistakes early on
### This workshop is not for you if…
- you’re already confident with exposure and subject-driven images
- you’re mainly looking for advanced lighting or post-processing techniques
- you want quick tricks instead of understanding photography.
Learning photography is like learning a language, I do not teach you how to order/photograph a coffee cup but give you understanding how to shoot/say anything, yet learning is a longer process and you will need more practice later to master it.
With this course I will give you a strong base and it prepares you for the Light and Storytelling workshops later on.

Extended Photography Workshop: Light, Seeing & Composition
Location not specified yetLight is the subject. Everything else supports it.
Extended Photography Workshop
Date: Saturday, 14 March (14.03.2026)
Start: 16:00
Duration: approx. 4.5 hours
Location**:** Vienna (exact meeting point shared after booking)
***
This workshop is built around the transition from daylight to night.
We’ll work with natural light first and then move into controlled artificial light, allowing you to experience how different light sources shape mood, contrast, and meaning.
This workshop is focused on light — how to recognise it, shape it, and use it intentionally.
In the first part, we’ll work with natural light, contrast, direction, and colour, and how these elements influence mood and meaning in a photograph. The second half will be dedicated to working with artificial light, as that helps even further to understand how to work with light.
During the workshop I keep the focus on perception: learning to notice light before you lift the camera, and understanding how composition supports it.
You’ll learn how to simplify scenes, work with shadows, and make conscious choices rather than reacting to what’s in front of you.
The workshop is crucial as even professionals often do not use light to the full potential and I’ve seen many times when people working as photographers are forgetting about the most fundamental and complex part of it – light! Photo is light and here I explain ways to use it to your advantage
###### During the workshop you’ll
- observe and analyse light before taking a photograph
- practice seeing contrast, direction, and colour in real situations
- shoot guided exercises focused on light, not subjects
- review images together and talk through decisions
- learn how to approach unfamiliar scenes with a clear visual intention
###### After the workshop
You should feel more confident recognising good light, making deliberate choices, and understanding why you take a photograph — not just how.
To book this workshop you can get in touch through my contact form. Please note that a 50% prepayment is required to secure your spot
