About us
Have a restaurant to recommend? Submit it by clicking here: Restaurant Recommendation Form
A biweekly book club for open-minded and progressive readers in Atlanta and the North to Northwest Metro Area — from Midtown Atlanta to Roswell to Vinings. Looking forward to good books, great food, and even better conversations! We're planning to read across all genres and have thoughtful conversations with like-minded book lovers over meals at local restaurants. Whether you're here for the prose, the politics, or the pasta, pull up a chair and let's get reading!

The Guncle (Novels & Nibbles - June 2026 - 1 of 2)
Join us on Friday, June 12th at 7:00 PM at Kitty Dare in Inman Park as we start in on The Guncle by Steven Rowley, covering Chapters 1 through 15 (approximately 168 pages). Street parking nearby is usually easy to come by, so give yourself a couple of minutes to find a spot and walk over. Come hungry and ready to talk, and if you're running a little behind, don't sweat it, we'll save you a seat.
Here's what we're getting into this month:
Patrick O'Hara, known to his niece and nephew as GUP (Gay Uncle Patrick), is a once-famous sitcom actor who has mostly retreated into a quiet life out in Palm Springs. When his sister-in-law dies and his brother hits a crisis of his own, Patrick lands the unexpected job of caring for two young kids, Maisie and Grant, for the summer. He shows up armed with a set of "Guncle Rules" and not much hands-on parenting experience, which is roughly where things get interesting. Going by the publisher's description and the summaries floating around, this one keeps humor and grief in the same room rather than choosing between them, and our chapters cover the early stretch while everyone is still sorting out how the arrangement is going to work.
The characters and the setup should give us plenty to get into on their own, and I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone makes of Patrick.
