What we’re about
We are a group that enjoys and embraces the outdoors, comradery and activities that will get your heart pumping! We walk or hike at a leisurely to moderate pace, in nice weather in and around the northern Nassau and Suffolk County, Long Island area and occasionally Upstate New York, while meeting and socializing with friendly co-walkers / hikers. People of all ages, sizes, shapes and colors are welcome to join if they are friendly, sociable, interested in meeting new people, and like to walk at an “athletic light” sort of pace -- that is, not terribly fast, but at a fair and consistent pace for average adults. Just be mindful that we might not always be walking on well paved (or at all paved) paths, some trails might have overgrowth, roots, stones, and obstructions to get over or around, and/or hills. At our events, we will meet up somewhere and then walk for an hour or two together. If folks want to go out afterward together to eat or drink somewhere, they are encouraged to do so.

This is a 6.5-mile loop, mostly flat, with some beautiful views around a pond, but we might do some extra portions so it might be a bit longer. Given the distance, and that the pace will probably be about "medium to brisk," keep in mind that if you have walking disabilities this might not be for you. We will probably take about 2 or 2.5 hours to walk the trail routes this time, give or take a few minutes.
