About us
This group is for people that enjoy walking for fitness and also social get togethers. Events will include walks at local parks and hiking. We sometimes will meet for a social get together at local coffee shops or a restaurant.

Gibbs Gardens Walk and Lunch
Gibbs Gardens, 1986 Gibbs Drive,, Ball Ground, GA, USGibbs Gardens walk for fitness and photography.
Gibbs Gardens is a renowned 376-acre, privately owned botanical garden in Ball Ground, Georgia, featuring 16 distinct, artistically designed garden venues, including the renowned Japanese Gardens and massive daffodil displays. Created by Jim Gibbs over 30 years, it features mature woodlands, spring-fed ponds, and 20+ seasonal color gardens.

Meet at the front entrance. We will wait until everyone has their ticket/pass and then enter together.Afterwards, we will have a late lunch at:

(their fajita nachos are just simply outstanding)Tickets are 25 for the day or 60 for the annual pass membership (highly recommended). I believe you can get credit towards the annual pass if you purchased the day ticket and wanted to get the annual pass but it has to be purchased the same day.

Stone Mountain Walk-Up Trail
Confederate Hall Parking Lot, Robert E Lee Blvd, Stone Mountain, ga, USStone Mountain, located 16 miles east of Atlanta, Georgia, is the world's largest exposed mass of quartz monzonite (granite), featuring a 5-mile circumference and rising 825 feet above the surrounding terrain. Known for its massive, 3-acre Confederate carving on its north face, the mountain is a major recreational park containing hiking trails, a summit skyride, and a surrounding 3,200-acre park.
We will walk up Stone Mountain on the Walk-Up Trail, spend about an hour exploring the top and then back down.
Afterwards, we can stop at Cherokee Rose Steak House for lunch if you wish to do so. I believe we can walk over instead of driving. The address to the restaurant is:

Meet at the restrooms at Walk Up Mountain Trail. They are close to the parking lot and start of the Walk Up Mountain Trail.

Note: The terrain is rocky, you will be stepping on rocks/stones along entire trail. Caution is advisedAround 1 mile up (35-40min, pace around 1.5mph) and 1 mile down (20-30min)

Known for its massive, 3-acre Confederate carving on its north face, the mountain is a major recreational park containing hiking trails, a summit skyride, and a surrounding 3,200-acre park.
We will walk up Stone Mountain on the Walk-Up Trail 2-4 times for endurance training. Feel free to stop at any time depending on your fitness level. Each ascend is around 700 ft of altitude gain and 1 mile long and 1 mile back down. We will take a short break after each ascension and decension and as needed.
