
What we’re about
Looking for a refreshing way to start your day? Join us once a week for a morning walk in Monsanto park to enjoy some fresh air and scenic views right in the middle of the city. Our goal is to come together for a peaceful and calming walk that will set a positive tone for the rest of our day, maybe even clear our minds and reduce some stress!
This club encourages community and making new connections, but also welcomes quiet, introspective walks together. Each walk will be kept small to support a comfortable, familiar atmosphere.
Each route will be circular and take approximately 1 hour.
These walks are inclusive: All fitness levels, ages, genders, and nationalities are welcome, including (well-behaved) furry friends. Our pace will be set by the slowest walker.
Out of respect to the group and nature, please be prepared to stow your phone and keep it on silent for the duration of the walk.
All of the Monsanto Morning Walks are, and will always be, free! If you would like to contribute to the costs of running the group on Meetup, feel free to donate whatever feels right for you on any walk you join.

Morning walk #44: Monte Verde
Monte Verde, Av. Ten. Martins, 1500-215 Lisboa,, Lisbon, PTJoin us for another circular walk through Monsanto Park!
We will start from behind the restaurant "Monte Verde" to walk along some of Monsanto's old roads and cross over the only wooden bridge in the forest before circling back to the starting point. There are a few steeper inclines along the route, but nothing we can't handle!
The group size for this walk is intentionally small to support a comfortable, familiar atmosphere. If you have secured a place but are unable to attend, please update your RSVP at least 24 hours in advance so that someone else may walk with us.
If you are running late, please send the guides a personal message and we will do our best to wait for you. Otherwise, we will begin walking at 08:35 latest to respect everyone's time.
Distance and duration
This circular route is 3.7 km and should take approximately 60 minutes to complete.
Meeting / ending point
- 🚗: Parking lot behind the restaurant "Monte Verde"
- 🚌: Bus 771 stops across the road; bus stop Cruz Oliveiras.
What to bring:
- Comfortable walking shoes
- At least 0.5L of water
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Sunscreen/hat
Out of respect to the group and nature, please be prepared to stow your phone and keep it on silent for the duration of the walk.
Important notes:
- The walk will take place even if there is a chance of light rain - bring your rain jacket!
- If the trails are compromised due to long periods of rain leading up to the date, and/or the forecast calls for lightning or heavy rain, I will cancel the walk before midnight the night before.

Morning walk #45: Six Quarries Trail
Pedestrian bridge Benfica, Lisboa - Cidade ,, Lisbon, PTJoin us for another circular walk in Monsanto forest!
We will walk past the Monsanto Visitor Center and along the Pista Rua Fria before circling back to the starting point.
If your schedule allows, feel free to join the group for a well-deserved snack and coffee after the walk,

This circular route is 5.1km and should take max. 90 minutes to complete.
Meeting / ending point
We will start walking from the pedestrian footbridge in Benfica. Cross the bridge to meet the group at the park-side end.
🚗: There is a parking lot in front of the bridge as well as street parking nearby
🚌: Several bus lines will drop you at the footbridge, which is also walkable (13 mins) from Benfica station.
What to bring:

- Sunscreen/hat if necessary
- At least 0.5L of water

Weekend walk #14: Pedra Amarela and 20 bridges
Barragem Rio da Mula, Estacionamento Barragem Rio da Mula,, Cascais, PTMonsanto Morning Walks goes back to Sintra!
Join us once again in Sintra for the first weekend walk of the year. We will start at the Rio Mula dam to climb up to the "Yellowstone" of Sintra - the famous Pedra Amarela viewpoint - after following the Rio Mula itself, where we will cross over a total of 20 wooden bridges.
This is a moderate route with an extended (but doable) incline to get to the final viewpoint. We will then return to the starting point and relax together over a picnic lunch.
Please note that the group size for this walk is intentionally small to support a comfortable, familiar atmosphere. If you have secured a place but are unable to attend, please be considerate and update your RSVP at least 24 hours in advance.

Distance and duration
This circular route is approximately 8km and should take roughly 2 hours to complete, including breaks.
Getting there
We will meet directly in front of the the Rio Mula dam at the top of the steps.
🚗: Small parking lot in front of the dam
🚌: Take the train to either Sintra or Cascais and group together to grab an Uber/Bolt (approx. €7). Aim to arrive at either station by 09:30.
Join our WhatsApp group to organize carpooling and make sure everyone gets there.

- At least 0.5L of water
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Sunscreen/hat
- Picnic lunch
