What we’re about
This is a group that provides a comfort level in knowing that other minorities participate in winter\summer activities like hiking, skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, camping, kayaking, bouldering, etc. All skill levels are welcome. I started this group to meet other outdoor enthusiasts of color. Everyone is welcome to join and anyone can attend the events, you don't have to be a minority. Looking forward to exploring the outdoors with everybody

Route description and photos:
https://stavislost.com/hikes/trail/south-sandia-peak-via-oso-ridge-and-embudito-loop/
We will take this loop clockwise, going up Oso Ridge as it becomes Vertical Forest, over to South Crest, summit the peak, and down Embudito via Oso Pass, taking the canyon trail down instead of the busy main trail. There is minor scrambling down on the canyon portion.
10.6 mi distance
3800 ft gain
Pace: 2 to 2.5 miles per hour
This is a difficult hike because of the elevation gain, a total cardio burn.
Bring: At least 2 liters of water, sack lunch, layers, poles if you use them, an extra pair of shoes and plastic bag in case it's muddy. A traction device such as microspikes will be helpful for any lingering snow patches on uppermost portion but snow might be completely melted by mid-April.
Dogs: Please leash up at snack and lunch breaks.
