The City of Menlo Park's libraries offer a variety of programs, including art events, author talks, info sessions, craft sessions, music events, and more. The Art of the Puppet (Fratello Marionettes)
Belle Haven Library, Belle Haven Community Campus, 100 Terminal Ave., Menlo Park, ca, USThe 9th Annual Menlo Park Puppetry Festival is here! The Fratello Marionettes delivers an interactive presentation on the art of puppetry, from creation to performance.
The puppeteers will demonstrate hand puppets, rod puppets, and specialized trick marionettes. After each vignette, they will cover an aspect of the puppet building process.
The presentation ends with a look behind the scenes and a Q&A session.
About the Fratello Marionettes:
The Fratello Marionettes have been entertaining audiences through the art of marionettes since 1989, performing in locations around the world. Having apprenticed with some of the country’s leading puppeteers (including Tony Urbano, Bob Baker, Randal Metz and Lewis Mahlmann), Fratello founder Kevin Menegus continues the tradition of classic marionette performances. Menegus is coauthor of the book A Century of California Puppetry: How the West was Strung.
About the Summer Puppetry Festival:
We’re presenting our 9th Annual Summer Puppetry Festival! Menlo Park celebrates the art of puppetry in its many forms, with a series of puppet shows and related events featuring beloved performers from throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Drop in for one event, or join us for the entire series.

Sci-Fi Fantasy Book Group: The Book Eaters
Belle Haven Library, Belle Haven Community Campus, 100 Terminal Ave., Menlo Park, ca, USJoin our Science-Fiction & Fantasy Book Group online or in person to discuss The Book Eaters, by Sunyi Dean.
Out on the Yorkshire Moors lives a secret line of people for whom books are food, and who retain all of a book's content after eating it.
Devon is part of The Family, an old and reclusive clan of book eaters. Her brothers grow up feasting on stories of valor and adventure, and Devon—like all other book eater women—is raised on a curated diet of fairytales and cautionary stories.
But real life doesn't always come with happy endings, as Devon learns when her son is born with a rare and darker kind of hunger—not for books, but for human minds.
Menlo Park’s Science-Fiction & Fantasy Book Group meets hybrid, online and in-person, on the 4th Monday of each month.
