Want to rock up to your next volleyball game and surprise everyone on the court with your newfound talents??

At Melbourne Volleyball Academy, we provide a safe environment for adult volleyball enthusiasts of all levels. We care about what you want to achieve in your volleyball journey, whether it be learning how to play, training to improve for your next game, or having fun with friends.

Currently, we have 8 sessions a week:

  1. Monday 7-9 PM - Intermediate/Advanced Social Games @ North Melbourne Community Centre
  2. Friday 6-9 PM - Beginner Training & Games @ North Melbourne Community Centre
  3. Friday 6:30-9:30 PM - Intermediate Training & Games @ Pascoe Vale Girls College
  4. Saturday 11 AM - 2 PM Beginner/Intermediate Social Games @ North Melbourne Community Centre
  5. Saturday 2 PM - 5 PM - Beginner Training and Games @ North Melbourne Community Centre
  6. Sunday 9 AM - 12 PM - Beginner Games @ North Melbourne Community Centre
  7. Sunday 1-4 PM - Intermediate Social Games @ University of Melbourne Tin Alley

There is no membership fee, just direct payment as you go.

All of our sessions are intended for adults (18+), we do not currently provide youth training.

We are so back!

After almost 1 full year of unimelb sport centre being under repair and renovation, we are so excited to announce that our Sunday 1-4PM open play is back on!

[[WHAT]]
This session is for social volleyball games where there will be 3 teams of 6 per court across 3 courts. Please arrive on time as there will warm-up time provided for 20-25 minutes at 1 PM while the hosts set up the nets.

Games will be played to 15 points, teams will queue in and fill into the next game where possible after playing 2 games in a row.

[[WHO]]
The session is intended for social volleyball players at the intermediate level.
Players should:

  • Understand basic volleyball rules (3 touches, foot faults, etc.)
  • Call for the ball when playing and communicate well
  • Ready to learn (or already know) 5-1 system
  • Efficient in passing/hitting/setting/serving
  • Have minimal unforced errors (missed serves, etc..)
  • Have control over their play around the net and centre line

If you are uncomfortable with the base fundamentals, we recommend coming to our beginner training sessions on Friday 6-9PM or Saturday 2-5PM.

[[HOW MUCH]]
$21 card payment will be collected on the day via square (EFTPOS) payment.

Payments will be collected prior to game play during warm up.

[[WHEN]]
Sunday afternoon from 1 PM- 4 PM.
However, feel free to come early and stretch as Unimelb Sport is open earlier.
Last minute dropouts and no-shows will have a zero-tolerance policy going forward.
All players are expected to update their RSVP at least 24 hours in advance if they are unable to attend.
This applies to players on the going list and the waitlist.

[[THINGS TO BRING]]
We ask that you bring

  • Water bottle
  • Appropriate footwear for indoor court shoes - netball shoes, volleyball shoes, or basketball shoes would be suitable.
  • Wear contacts or sports glasses

[[OTHER DETAILS]]
Only those on the “going” list are permitted to play. If you are on the waitlist, or not registered at all, you will not be permitted to play.
