Encore: Theatre and Events for Friends to Enjoy

Encore: Theatre and Events for Friends to Enjoy is a friendly, sociable not-for-profit group based mainly in South Bucks, including Gerrards Cross, the Chalfonts, Amersham, Chesham, and surrounding areas. If you live outside these locations, you’re still welcome to request to join, provided you’re happy to travel to and from events.

We usually attend at least one London theatre production each month, as well as shows at local municipal theatres. If you’re looking to meet new people and enjoy a varied social calendar, we’d love you to give Encore a try.

Theatre has always been at the heart of our group, and since launching in June 2016 we’ve enjoyed many performances together. In addition to theatre, our events include comedy nights, quiz nights, party weekends, outings, music events, cinema trips, meals out, walks, guided tours, picnics, and informal social gatherings.

The range and frequency of events depend on what members are willing to contribute. Our organisers can’t do everything, so we particularly welcome members who are happy to host or organise events themselves.

Please note that transport is not provided — members are responsible for making their own way to and from event venues.

While we understand that not everyone enjoys uploading photos, a clear face photo is required for new members. This helps with identification when meeting at events.

There is a small joining fee: £5 for single membership or £10 for a plus-one membership. Payment details will be provided upon acceptance, along with information for paying for chargeable events. Please note that PayPal is not accepted due to transaction fees.

Encore is a closed group, and membership is subject to organiser approval and availability. If accepted, members are encouraged to attend at least one event per year (though we hope you’ll join us for many more!). Existing members are also welcome to recommend new people to the group.

We hope you’ll enjoy being part of Encore. If you have an idea for a show or event, please let us know — or better still, have a go at organising it yourself, as additional organisers can be added via Meetup.

Please note the following important points:

• Only RSVP yes if you are able to attend. There’s no need to RSVP no. If an event is full, you can still RSVP to join the waitlist.
• If you need to change your RSVP, please message the host as a courtesy rather than simply changing your response.
• When payment is requested for an event, please make it promptly. If you’re away or unable to pay straight away, just let us know — it helps us avoid unnecessary follow-ups.
