Trust us, the possibilities are endless - Hong Kong is a playground for outdoor enthusiasts!
So, what are you waiting for? Click that "ATTEND" button and let's get this party started! To keep things safe and legit, we ask that you upload a clear photo of yourself to your profile. And don't worry, we've got levels of difficulty covered with our ACTIVITY LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY RATING:
1.0 Easy - Walking the promenade from Kennedy Town to Central/North Point. (Piece of cake, right?)
2.0 Moderate - Hiking up to The Peak, navigating the loop, and walking back down. (A little sweat never hurt nobody!)
3.0 Hard - A combination of distance (20 km), elevation gain, and 5-7 hours of pure adventure. (Are you up for the challenge?)
4.0 Very Hard - Hiking up and down any of the tallest peaks in HK. (Warning: may cause extreme fatigue and sore muscles!)
5.0 Extremely Hard - Hiking up Dog's Teeth, with gloves to navigate precarious rock formations. (For the fearless and the brave!)
Not sure which event to join? Don't sweat it! Start with some easier events to get a feel for the rating system and to see how they compare to your current fitness level. Hike: Po Toi Island
Wong Chuk Hang, Remex Centre, 42 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Hong Kong, HKHike: Po Toi Island
Difficulty Level: 2.5 out of 5
Distance: 8 km (approximate)
Time: 5 hours (approximate)
Description: Po Toi is Hong Kong’s southernmost island, and while it feels remote, it’s surprisingly easy to reach by ferry from Aberdeen. The 8 km hike across the island reaches a modest peak elevation of 150 meters, making it a manageable adventure with big rewards—think dramatic sea cliffs, ancient rock carvings, and the peaceful Tin Hau Temple. Along the way, we'll pass a crumbling, vine-covered mansion rumored to be haunted, quirky rock formations shaped like a snail, a monk, and a palm, and enjoy sweeping views that feel far removed from city life. Once home to over 1,000 residents—including a tofu tycoon and rumored pirates—Po Toi now has just around 100 villagers living off-grid with generators instead of city power.
Café: We’ll have time at the end of the hike to sit down and enjoy a nice meal or just a drink. This is completely optional, but a great way to relax and soak in the island vibes before heading back.
What to bring:
- 3-4 liters of water
- Snacks to eat along the way (sandwich, fruits, nuts, etc)
- Hiking shoes with good support
- Sunglasses
- Headgear (cap/hat)
- Sunscreen
- Bug Spray
- In case of Rain: plan accordingly
Toilets: There are at least 2-3 toilets along the way.
Meeting Point: Wong Chuk Hang MTR - Exit B. Once everyone arrives, we'll walk to Tsui Wah Ferry Pier. It should take just under 10 mins.
Ferry Schedule: Click here.
Time: 9:15 am (SHARP)
IMPORTANT: Out of respect to the members that arrive on time, we will only be able to wait a maximum of 5 minutes. Should you arrive after 9:20 am, I will no longer be answering phone calls or responding to messages as I need to give my time and attention to those that have arrived on time.
