Join The Downtown Chess Society, Pomona’s new hub for casual and competitive chess! Every Tuesday evening, players of all levels gather for good games, good company, and a relaxed pub atmosphere. We also offer some unique dimensions to our events!

It’s simple: grab any purchase (even a water) to enter, and you’re in. Each game win can be tallied at the bar, and the player with the most wins by the end of the night takes home a $25 gift card prize. Prefer to play casually? No problem! We welcome anyone who wants to relax and enjoy the games/community.

Plus, every 2 wins = 1 drink ticket (limit 2 per person).
Must be 21+ to attend.

Join us every Tuesday night for the NOHO Chess Social, the North Hollywood sister club of the LA Chess Social! Hosted at Brews Brothers — a lively local favorite with top-notch craft beer and occasional live music — this weekly meetup brings together chess enthusiasts of all levels. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just getting started, you’re welcome here!

Boards and pieces are available on-site, but bringing friends (and a chess clock if you have one) is always encouraged.

Long Beach Chess Club – Tuesday Events

Who’s Welcome:
Anyone who loves chess — from absolute beginners to seasoned players. All ages, all ratings. No membership fees.
(As the Tuesday events are held in a brewery, it may be less suitable for some children)

What to Expect:
• Around 30 players engaged in casual, friendly games (blitz, rapid, casual time controls)
• Players often bring their own boards & clocks, but don’t worry if you can’t — there’s always extra gear floating around
• A welcoming and fun atmosphere where people help one another, analyze games, and just enjoy chess together

When & Where:
• Tuesdays at 7:00 pm — at Trademark Brewery, Long Beach

• 233 E Anaheim St. Long Beach, CA 90813

Option to bring your own Food/beverages

Tips / Notes:
• Arrive a little early if you want to set up or challenge someone
• Bring your own chess set & clock if you have them
• This is a casual meetup — don’t stress about your rating or experience

Important for Clarification:
The Long Beach Chess Club holds its main event on Tuesday nights.
We do also hold a gathering/social each Sunday afternoon. These events usually have fewer people, and are dedicated to being family friendly. We would recommend the Sunday meets for those parents that wish to bring their kids. (It is super wholesome)

• Parking is free and plentiful!

The Highland Park Chess Club has been holding weekly events in our community for over three years and has grown into a well-attended and beloved chess meetup. We meet every Wednesday evening at Belle's Delicatessen & Bar, on the beautifully lit back patio. Open to all ages and skill levels. No need to bring anything, except for a few friends if you’d like!
