About us

Getting together in and around Godalming to meet new people, enjoy local events, and support the town’s pubs, cafés, venues, festivals, artists and community activities.
We’re a friendly, relaxed social group with events including drinks, meals, pub quizzes, live music, comedy, walks, festivals, day trips and the occasional jaunt a little further afield.

Whether you’re new to the area, a long-standing Godhelmian (or 'Minger!), or simply looking to widen your social circle locally, you’re very welcome. Lots of people come along on their own, so don’t worry if you don’t know anyone yet.

The group is open to adults of all ages. The main aim is simple: enjoy life, meet good people, support local places, and make some great memories.

We occasionally run joint events with nearby groups, including Guildford Friendly Meetup, especially for larger events, festivals and days out - but our focus remains very much on Godalming and the surrounding area.

See something you like? RSVP and come along. New faces are always welcome. Hope to see you at an event soon. 🙂

River Walk to the Cheese and Chilli Festival🧀🌶️🍺

River Walk to the Cheese and Chilli Festival🧀🌶️🍺

Godalming Bandstand, Godalming, GB

Join us for a scenic walk along the River Wey from Godalming to Shalford Park near Guildford, where we'll head into the Cheese & Chilli Festival for the day!

We'll meet in the town park next to the Bandstand from 10:45am, and then head off along the towpath at 11am. It's approx a 4 mile walk, so we should arrive around 12.30pm at a leisurely pace, where we'll head into the festival and join up with the Guildford Friendly Meetup group. 🥳 The rest of the day will be spent sampling the cheese and chilli products of the numerous stalls at the festival, enjoying the entertainment on offer, as well as lunch and drinks, and potentially even entering the chilli eating competition if you think you can take the heat!! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Early bird tickets are just £10 in advance and can be bought from here where you'll find lots more info about the festival, including how to enter the chilli-eating contest...

After the event we can either walk back, or head into Guildford for further entertainment or just to get the train back 🙂

Please note the towpath by the Wey is quite uneven in places, so decent footwear is definitely recommended! 🥾🙂
