Welcome to the "Gaston Go-Getters!" We are entering our 3rd year of exploring Gaston County and surrounding areas. We are a welcoming group and accept members no matter their age or orientation. You are never too old to become a "Go-Getter!"
And...we have a 2nd group called "Wine & Friends - The Grapesmith Society." This group will focus more on meeting up to sip and talk about wine. Check us out!
There are a couple of very simple requirements for both groups...and yes, they ARE requirements.
1. You must post a recognizable photo of yourself on your profile. Not your children, not your pets, not a photo of your tattoos! I need to recognize you when you walk in the door.
2. I'm looking for an active group of folks who want to attend outings and support local businesses. Going forward, you will need to interact with our Meetup page at least once every six months. That does not mean that you must attend an event...you just have to visit our page and see what's going on.
3. If you RSVP, show up! If you must cancel, change your RSVP no later than 24 hours before the event. Three no-shows (or last minute changes) and you will be removed from the group. Emergencies happen and will be taken into consideration.
4. Lastly, and most importantly, tolerance and respect for everyone...especially "the least of these." We live in a relatively rural community with many residents who are not as educated as you or as financially wealthy as you. If you are disrespectful in any way, by words or action, I will remove you from the group.
You are not required, but you are encouraged, to purchase food or drink from establishments that we visit. Thank you for wanting to support "local!"
And then...there is the optional "opportunity" to financially support the "Go-Getters." Moving forward, new members will receive a link to the Venmo account of the organizer. If you are so inclined, please make a donation to help offset the fees associated with Meetup.
If you have an idea for a meetup, something fun that you want to explore with this group, I want to hear about it. Here's to a great year of the "Gaston Go-Getters" in 2026!

"We Will Rock You" - Cherryville Little Theatre
Cherryville Little Theatre, 301 N Academy Street, Cherryville, NC, USAt long last, the Gaston Go-Getters have planned an event in Cherryville!!! It's one of the last towns in Gaston County that we have not yet visited as a group. So...now is your chance to explore another of the towns in our area.
The Cherryville Little Theatre will present a high-octane, adrenaline-fueled musical featuring more than 20 iconic Queen hits, including "Bohemian Rhapsody," "We Are the Champions," "Somebody to Love," and, of course, "We Will Rock You." The play is set in a post-apocalyptic future where individuality has been outlawed and music is controlled by algorithms. The story follows two young revolutionaries who dare to defy the system to save rock 'n' roll. The cast appears to be made up of young people (our future) and looks to be a fist-pumping, foot-stomping good time! Who doesn't love the legendary music of Queen!
Tickets can be purchased online. All tickets are general admission for $10 + a $1 fee. Guests are welcome, so buy them a ticket and add them to your RSVP. We will meet inside the theatre at 2:45 to find seats. Here is the link.

It's a local establishment located in a renovated historic building. Their address is 201 N Mountain Street in Cherryville. There is a parking lot across the street from the restaurant.
