Movie: Pig with Patton Oswalt hosting a post-film discussion
Capitol Theater, 206 5th Ave SE, Olympia , WA, USComedian and actor Patton Oswalt really likes the film Pig—so much so that he will be hosting a discussion of the film at the Capitol Theater. It’s the last part of his mini-residency at the Capitol Theater that includes a night of comedy (this event is also posted).
Tickets for both evenings may sell out, so, if you are interested, go online and get them today!
If you aren’t familiar with the movie Pig (R, 2021)—it is not to be confused with Babe. It has been described as a movie of loss, grief, and love. This is how OFS describes it:
“A truffle hunter (Nicolas Cage) who lives alone in the Oregonian wilderness must return to his past in Portland in search of his beloved foraging pig after she is kidnapped.”
Now Patton Oswalt is hosting the post-film discussion because he thinks Pig is one of the greatest films of the 21st century.
Is it?
Well, a lot of people really like it: It gets 97% on Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer (what critics say) and 83% on its Popcornmeter (what viewers say). IMDB viewers are not as generous: They give it 6.9 stars.
But, hey, if you come to the show you may be able to ask Patton Oswalt what he thinks about that.
The movie shows once only at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16. Tickets are $43.25 for General Admission and $38.25 for OFS members. Then can be bought online in advance (recommended) or at the box office starting an hour (6:00 p.m.) before showtime.
Please do not RSVP unless you have bought your tickets or are certain you will show up. I don't want to waste time and energy looking for people who opt-out without cancelling.
Please note: OFS often shuts off its online ticketing system 24 or so hours before the movie starts—but that does not mean the show is sold out or seats are unavailable. The Capitol Theater seats over 700 people. Unless OFS website is showing that the show is sold out, you may be able to get a ticket if bring your hard-earned cash (or plastic) to the box office before the movie—but get there early.
The Capitol Theater offers soda, and popcorn and your very own, narrow, squeaky seat (no cup holders provided). You’ll also be able to get a beer, wine, cider, or canned cocktails.
I plan to arrive no later than 6:15, linger around outside for 10 minutes or so before heading in to get my popcorn and beverage and find a seat. Seating is by general admission so we may be able to sit together.
Also, the movie should let out around 9:00 p.m. so a post-movie beverage and/or dessert at The Spar is a possibility if anyone is interested.
