We welcome a new presenter to Aston Wine Club - Andrew Walker of Solaris Wines.

Pay £20 immediately when you press Attend and write in the comments section that you have paid. Bank details are below. Arrive by 7:45pm for a glass of wine before we start at 8:00pm. Event finishes around 10:40pm.

There will be a cheese and biscuit buffet half way through. You will need to bring a small plate and two wine glasses.

Café on the Common
“What makes us different is that we are a training café, which means we put every penny you spend with us into helping young adults with learning disabilities make the most of their lives.
The café is run by MEA, a social enterprise charity founded in 2018. Each year, we take on a team of interns with learning disabilities and give them the skills and confidence to find paid work when they finish their year’s programme with us”.
The cafe is dog friendly & CARD only.

There is limited space in the cafe so if we are a large group or it’s busy the Gate pub is a few minutes walk away.

The Walk
After making a loop of the common we make our way down to the Chess Valley & the river. After crossing at Sarrattmill Bridge we make our way up to Church End & on to cross back over the river via the ford at the watercress beds. After taking the path to Chenies we skirt around the Manor on to a woodland path high above the valley where we will take a snack/lunch break . It’s then down to cross the river again at the Latimer weir & pick up the Chess Valley Walk back to the ford at the watercress beds where we will cross the river for the fourth & final time. A path through the woods takes us back to the river side then up to Chorleywood Common & the cafe or the pub.

Please note that this walk is not led by a qualified leader and, as such, isn't covered by insurance. Be sure to wear suitable boots and clothing. The organiser cannot be held responsible for any injuries, however caused. Members are expected to take responsibility for their own preparation and safety including adequate fluids, weather protection and a snack. Please be sure to make Malcolm aware if you have any medical conditions.

Dogs are welcome as always but please be mindful to keep them on leads for roads and around other animals.

Come and join a team at one of my quiz nights. Some of you came along in the past when it was the Royal British Legion. It is now Berkhamsted Social Club after it disaffiliated from the British Legion to make it easier for new members to join.

It is a fun quiz with 6 rounds plus a marathon round and all money raised goes to charity. The winning team wins a bar voucher but that is often donated back into the charity fund. There is usually a raffle too.

Max 6 people in a team. The quiz starts around 8pm. Cost £1 each for club members and £2 each for non members. Who knows, some of you may wish to join, it doesn't cost a lot.

I am down as the host but obviously I won’t be able to be in the team as I am the quizmaster! Tables can't be reserved so make sure you arrive in good time to find a spot.
