PHILADANCO! doesn't just perform. They ignite. Founded in Philadelphia in 1970, the nonprofit Philadelphia Dance Company has spent more than five decades breaking barriers and building bridges across cultural divides through the power of dance. Celebrated internationally for its innovation, creativity and preservation of predominantly African American traditions, PHILDANCO! also provides one of the nation’s most innovative and successful dance training programs. Their performers are known for virtuoso physicality and an electrifying stage presence. "[PHILADANCO dancers] move with the clarity and the pulled-up look of ballet dancers, the stretch and the direct emotional commitment of modern dancers and the sharp attack of jazz dancers" (The New York Times).
