Contact the Fishmaster if you or your guest(s) would like to request instruction or loaner equipment.
Be courteous and change your RSVP to “Not Attending” if you are unable to attend the outing so that we are not waiting for you. You can also contact and inform the Fishmaster or another attending member. For safety reasons let the Fishmaster or another attending member know if you leave an outing early. Otherwise, we will be searching for you at the end of the outing.

Directions Heenan Lake (EL 7200') is 8 miles east of Markleeville on Hwy 89. You can reach Hwy 89 (Monitor Pass) from Hwy 395, south of Topaz Lake at Woodfords. It is about 7 miles to Markleeville and another 8 miles to the junction of Hwy 89 and SR4. Heenan will be on the right.

Clothing High Sierra lake, (7200'), be prepared for all conditions.

Fishing Lahontan Cutthroat Trout

Moderate level of difficulty

Fish cruise throughout the lake. Popular areas are the inlets of Heenan Creek at the east end and lake south end, both areas with weed beds usually present.

Gear Float tube, pontoon boat, prams, and usual still water gear

5 or 6 wt. rod and reel

Floating & intermediate sink tip lines

4x leaders 7' to 9'

4x tippets

There will be plenty of quality fish on hand for the patient fly fisher. No water or food at the lake, bring your own food and beverages. I look forward to seeing you there.

Come one, come all to the Amador Flyfishers Annual Dinner! If you’ve joined us before, you already know how much fun it is. If you’re thinking about attending for the first time, here’s a taste of what you can look forward to:

### 🍽️ Dinner & Activities (3:00–7:00 PM, dinner served at 4:00 sharp)

Enjoy a full Santa Maria–style BBQ dinner featuring:

• Top sirloin of beef
• Chicken quarters
• Slow‑cooked pinquito beans
• Green salad
• Grilled French bread
• Fresh vegetables

This year, members are bringing homemade desserts to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Tables are encouraged to pool their bids so everyone gets to share. We’ll also have a variety of silent auction items, a live auction, and a few special announcements throughout the evening.

🍷 Social Hour & Bar (3:00–6:30 PM)
Relax at the no‑host bar and catch up with fellow members and guests. Unfortunately American Legion rules will not allow any outside alcohol including wine.
During the social hour, you can:

• Listen for the door‑prize drawing
• Buy raffle tickets and place them in the containers for the items you want (more tickets mean better odds!)
• Silent Auction
• Bid on live auction items

Remember, proceeds from the raffle and auctions help fund the programs and activities our club provides.

We will use the various techniques to fish the Upper Sacramento River in and about Dunsmuir. Saturday morning after breakfast a “Clinic in the Park” will take place sharing past pocket water techniques as well as new. Well known guide, presenter and fly fishing innovator, Doug Ouellette will join us to share his knowledge relating to river fishing. Also reviewing the usual Ted Fay style of short line nymphing elaborated on by Bill Carnazzo will be explained and demonstrated. Those learning these techniques for the first time will be assisted on the river. The more current Euro Nymphing practice will be discussed and demonstrated.

Some of us will stay at the Cedar Lodge where a reasonable price will be more reasonable if paid by cash and mention of being with the Amador Flyfishers. There is a variety of other lodging possibilities available in Dunsmuir but the Cedar Lodge has for many years been a favorite of fisherman.
