November 13, 2025 VPC Longmeadow Camera Club Meeting

Longmeadow Adult Center, 231 Maple Rd., Longmeadow, MA, US

    Paul Hetzel:

    The VPC Longmeadow December Meeting
will be on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 1:30 at the Longmeadow Adult Center will have a presentation by award winning photographer, Paul Hetzel. Club membership and this program is FREE.

'Paul Hetzel is a photographer based in Springfield, Massachusetts. His photographic career was launched during a trek to Mt. Everest in 1994. Time constraints of his busy Medical Oncology practice stimulated him to move from film to digital capture in 2005. He finds the use of Black and White photography allows him to better convey the aesthetics of and emotional attachment to a particular subject. His images have been awarded best in show at the Monson Art Show and the New England Camera Club Conference. Exhibitions of his work have appeared in multiple galleries in New England. He published his first book, From This Sapling, in 2013. He has been fortunate to capture landscape and nature images in such distant lands as Nepal, Tibet, Patagonia, Africa and throughout the Southwest United States. However, some of his favorite images have been captured close to home.'

You can attend the live meeting and join the Camera Club for FREE if you are 55+ but you can participate in the contest and critique at any age on line.

    | NECCC Interclub Competition |
    | I entered some photographs from past photo contest/critques in the November 22, 2026 inter club competition. There were three categories, Color, Monochrome (black & white), and Nature. It’s a club competition and individuals can only have one photo in a category, but can enter in all three categories. I just made the deadline for this competition because I was unaware of it, but the deadline for the next one is January 10, 2026. We can use photos from the December contest critique for the one so be certain to enter your photos. |

In the future please don’t use fancy titles for your nature entries, they only want the name like Blue Bird. In the nature category you should follow PSA rules click here. Essentially they say:

“PSA nature photography rules require that images depict natural elements without human alteration, focusing on authenticity and ethical practices. Images must convey a truthful representation of the scene, avoiding any human activity that threatens wildlife or their habitats.” No hand of man in the photos and avoids post production manipulation for other than normal lighting, color, contrast, etc. control. Of course if you want to do all of that the photos can be in the color or monochrome category.

If you belong to more than one club and your other club enters the competition with you images let me know as you are only allowed to be entered from one club. |
