About us
Body & Brain Wellness Foundation is a non-profit organization that promotes mindfulness and wellness on an individual level and to care for our families, communities, and our Earth. Locally, we are a group of active instructors of meridian energy yoga, DahnMuDo (taichi-qigong), and other Asian integrative health practices, who teach on a volunteer basis throughout San Diego County. We offer classes, outdoor meditation, workshops, book talks and other activities. This MeetUp is open to anyone who is interested in learning and is respectful of others.

Every Wednesday morning we bring you community classes with tips & techniques for self-care from Korea to upgrade your wellness. This week's class focuses on deep stretching, which everybody needs!Body & Brain meridian energy yoga is from Korean integrative healing traditions and is designed to improve nervous system and blood circulation, breathing, posture, flexibility and mindfulness. We'll show you how to stretch, breathe and wake up your energy without risky inverted positions - you can easily adapt our classes to your current level.
Let your instructor know if you have joint aches or other problems that may require adaptations, so we can assist in making you comfortable. Please stretch mindfully, and ease up on your stretch if it doesn't feel right to you.
Each class includes 15 minutes to check in & warm up, an hour to focus on your own self-care with our instructors, and a few minutes of sharing after class to connect with our community.
Our classes are taught by qualified volunteer instructors, as a community service. We greatly appreciate your $15 per class donation, which helps us pay our rent. If you are a current member of Body & Brain, our classes are covered by your membership.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Did you know that if you’ve been practicing our Korean yoga, you’ve already experienced “tai chi”? The Chinese word TaiChi does not mean "move arms and legs this way and that way" - it means the natural balance of energy. In fact, the name of the black and white symbol that most Americans know as “yin-yang” symbolizes Tai Chi (Taegeuk in Korean).
Body & Brain Tai Chi-Qigong classes are all about energy balancing. We don’t teach fighting martial arts, but we do what might be called “healing martial arts.” This practice is for self-healing and self-development, based on Korean martial arts and Qigong (which means "the study of energy").
For beginners, it’s most important for students to learn to feel their own energy and, with more practice, to feel in harmony with the energy around them. You can also improve your balance and posture with continual practice. Developing mindfulness is more important than memorizing how to move your arms and legs in specific forms. That’s why we call it “moving meditation.”
This is mostly a standing class, with a little mat relaxation at the end. Wear loose or stretchy clothing; please wear yoga socks with traction dots on the bottoms, or indoor martial arts shoes (no outdoor shoes please).
Our classes are taught by qualified volunteer instructors, as a community service. We greatly appreciate your $15 per class donation, which helps us pay our rent. If you are a current member of Body & Brain, our classes are covered by your membership.
Looking forward to practicing Tai Chi-Qigong with you!
